The Browser Wars !!!
I think it was rite who got me thinking on how the browser wars have been shaping up and Im happy to say in terms of people visiting my site Mozilla ranks way ahead at a whopping 70% while IE comes a distinct second at about 27% or so.
Sadly though while this might be true for people who visit my blog it would be unfair to call it a good representation for users overall. Well its a new war, and while M$ won the browser wars last time around with Netscape this time it might prove that much more difficult. All eyes are on Mozilla as it improves with every build. Cooler interfaces, superb control of pop-ups, extensions and the very nature of open source keeps it ahead in terms of technology. Remember Linux !!! :).

The Mozilla browser is technically better than IE. That is plain fact.
Mozilla has innovative and polished user-centric features—that IE doesn't have—such as tab-based browsing. Microsoft has roused from its browser slumber long enough to suggest that the same polished features are coming to IE sometime soon. That alone has raised a few eyebrows.
The recent announcement by AOL Time Warner that they will update their own browsers with the latest Mozilla technology also gives Mozilla technology a tick.
Mozilla technology just won't go away: Its popularity grows slowly but surely, like tree roots crumbling a rock. As of April 2004, independent statistics show Mozilla to be 4% or more of the global market, but for web developers, use may be as high as 10%. In some markets, such as Germany, use may now be as high as 19%. On some platforms, such as Linux, Mozilla is now the dominant player, and probably well over 50%.

According to this site http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_stats.asp which came up first when I googled "internet browser usage", Mozilla was 19% for last November and has been rising sharply! Hurray!! Go Firefox!
This new scrollbar makes my linux damn slow... I am using firefox on linux.
well this article was certainly not for ppl like me- from a non-IT / engg background...........the only thing it reminded me was of godzilla , rhymes nicely with mozilla !!!
Hmm rite.. absolutely ... Go Mozilla !! First the browser market.. then linux for the OS scene.. Its an irony that the best in terms of technology, performance and security should lag behind a better marketed and packaged product.
just checked that site and Mozilla seems to going up. Great to see that. As for the scroller bar thing. I havent looked at it from linux myself. Well ill check it up and if it doesnt load properly from linux .. off it goes. ;)

Firefox of course is top of the pile as far as web browsers go and is the one generating all the headlines (deservedly), but also check out its poor cousin, the e-mail client Thunderbird. I use it to check all the RSS feeds, and it rocks! Much better than using the Sage extension on Firefox.

You dont have to remind anyone ... least of all me abt the switch to mozilla :p That fiasco is still fresh in my mind.
Agree about the Thunderbird thingy :) It rocks :p But then most open source stuff does rock :p
