Natural Disasters !!!
Every now and then a natural disaster comes along and causes destruction that puts life in perspective. It causes you to ask yourself as to how nature can be beautiful and then cruel at other times. The quake that hit Sumatra and the ensuing tsunamis that hit coastal Asia like no other disaster in recent times has left behind a trail of destruction, misery and extensive loss of human life. The destruction has been extensive in SriLanka, India, Indonesia, Malaysia and other countries in South East Asia. There can be no words to describe the human misery that a natural disaster of this scale leaves behind. The coming days will have to see people coming together to help each other out in these days of need. This is the time when leaders and governments have to put their hands up and work towards reconstruction and rehabitation.
Its been a welcome relief from the winter in the last two days and has been pretty warm . It promises to be warm for the next couple of days. One downshot of this is that all the snow and ice has started melting into a consistent slush. Reminds you of the slush on the mumbai roads after a spell of torrential rain.
This past week has been more or less a case of recuperation and setting a few pending things in order. Dont have work till the 3rd and that has meant lots of sleep which is always welcome. Have been frequenting the gym pretty regularly these last few days which is something satisfying. Played squash for the first time and was hopelessly out of place. The concept of locking the wrists and hitting the ball into the air is totally alien to cricket where you are always looking to use your wrists to hit the ball down. Ahhhhh... im sure some practice will help with that.
I have just found out that this blog has been getting a good number of hits thanks to the mp3 link to the laser scene song from Ocean's twelve "A la menthe" below in one of the posts. The blog comes up on the front page of google's search for the song which has resulted in a big number of hits. The interesting aspect of this is that it now allows me to check out how the browsers fare in a more general user base. The results are not bad as Mozilla with 51% still beats IE at 42%. This seems more representative of how the browser wars are shaping up and its still advantage mozilla.
Time to end this one here .. over and out folks.. :)
