Walks

There is something about walking that proceeds to help clear the cobwebs in the mind. I and sank got up early to try and get a session in the gym if possible. The gym being closed we decided to try and get a long walk instead. We decided that a bit of grocery shopping would add the functional element as well. On the way sank comes up with the idea of walking it all the way to the mall and back which is some way off. So we took a detour and headed off for the mall with the wind behind us and a "hard" icy road in front of us. ;) Had my first "official" fall of the winter. Came down on a especially treacherous section of iced sidewalks that even my trustworthy CAT could not tackle. It was -15 degrees when we left. One thing I have noticed with the weather is that after that particularly freezing day when it hit -28, everything else looks that much easier to handle. Got some winter clothes which I have been intending to buy. The walk back was that much harder as the wind had picked up. :)

Things have been lately very laidback in the sense that I havent got cracking on the work lying in front of me. Had a movie marathon session yesterday where I ran through 5 english and one french title in a long stint. ;)

Hmm... well its christmas eve today and we did our bit for spreading the cheer around. ;) After two days of the biological clock being totally out of whack its showing signs of returning to normal now. This post has been a bit like how its been the last few days.. totally random and sometimes it feels good to just let go every now and then ;)

Well let me leave you with a poignant poem and an even more poignant statement ...

If you understand, things are just as they are; if you do not understand, things are just as they are. --Ancient Zen statement

Loss and Gain

When I compare
What I have lost with what I have gained,
What I have missed with what attained,
Little room do I find for pride.

I am aware
How many days have been idly spent;
How like an arrow the good intent
Has fallen short or been turned aside.

But who shall dare
To measure loss and gain in this wise?
Defeat may be victory in disguise;
The lowest ebb is the turn of the tide.

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
