Orientation !!
This word has many meanings for different people. Travelling to work early in the morning with Sank, who is volunteering at the International Students Orientation at the univ it struck me that it was not too long ago that I was travelling to attend the orientation. :) Its been six months now in this place and its not been too bad. We met a couple yesterday from Mumbai who were talking of how bad it is to get to the cold rightaway from Mumbai where its nigh impossible to see the mercury dip below 20 centigrade.
I was lucky in the sense that I did go to kgp where the mercury at times dips to 6 or 7 and I remember missing quite a few of the morning lectures during the first winter of kgp. :) Talking of kgp and orientation brings back some very interesting memories. Orientation Period or OP for short is one of those things that used to exist once upon a time in kgp. As with a lot of other traditions like student elections this one too ceased to exist sometime during our stay there. We were the last few ones to see what OP looked like. Its a paradox of sorts as OP lead to a bit of disorientation more often than not ;).
Well I had talked of the Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance book in my last post and found a link to an electronic version Zen and the Art. I still havent found an electronic copy of the front cover showing this beautiful image of a wrench meshed in with a plant, signifying the mix of science and art.
Am at my morning shift and its all very quiet in here today. I love the morning shifts for this very reason. Most people dont start coming in till about 11am and before you know it the shift is done with. :)
