Cricket !!!
YESSSS !!!! Finally after wat seems to be ages I played cricket again. The gods were indeed kind and in the middle of the winter we had a day that saw temperatures of 10 degrees centigrade. Wats more it was a Sunday. We didnt need any more encouragement. I am alone at home and all the usual suspects with whom I played cricket during fall are miles away. However, when such a day comes u dont complain, you catch hold of anyone u can and then run as fast as u can to the playing field.. in this instance the parking lot.
It felt good to just hold the bat, the feel of ball hitting the bat at just the right spot, running in to the makeshift crease with ball in hand and letting go with gusto. :) The thrill could not be dampened by the fact tat lack of practice meant that the feet were moving nowhere on most occasions. There is something very special about this game which you need to play to understand. Its another matter that Im now in bed trying to rejuvenate what is a very sore back. It was well worth every single ache and pain i feel right now. Hemanth and Raghav turned up while the others ditched.. :p Their loss. ;) We played with great gusto with Raghav managing to work up a good pace. The sight of three guys playing a game with that kind of enthusiasm managed to elicit a smile from every passerby and car drivers.
On the way back the sight of the cricket bat managed to stop traffic on the main road with people wanting to know if its "initiation time". Well initiation is wat they call ragging here and the cricket bat has a more than passing resemblance to the bat used during ragging, although the cricket bat is indeed much bigger. And I thought our ragging was bad :p ... well it was ;)
This has to be one of the best days, let alone a Sunday in a long time. Got up, got some work done. Had a great time in the morning which sort of set the tone for the remainder of the day;). Went off to play cricket in the afternoon. The sore back prevented me from going over to Mohit's place to watch the superbowl which would have been great fun as well. Got into the bus only to get off it much to the amusement of the driver. Watched the superbowl lying down at home. Was a great game but you always knew the Patriots were going to win. They simply are a better unit and u got to give it to them. They played stunning football. They showed nerves upfront which put the Eagles in the lead. But u always knew it was a matter of time before they got the rhythm going and came storming back. It was a professional display all along.
Slept off after the superbowl anticipating a long week ahead now. :) Well the week is on right now and its not been so bad so far. Over and out for now folks.. :p
